Tips Corona Vaccination

Exercise and Corona/Covid Vaccination: Your Questions Answered

You are about to receive your vaccination or booster shot. Or you have just received it. Does this affect your sports performance? And can you exercise after receiving your vaccine? Read the answer to your questions below.

Effect of vaccination on your sports performance

Are you hesitating to get vaccinated because you are afraid it will affect your sports performance?

Hesitate no more and get vaccinated! The various vaccines protect you well against serious illness and they are safe, even for athletes. Some mild side effects can indeed occur after your vaccination, but the risk of it having a negative impact on your sports performance is many times smaller than the risk of Corona (and its associated symptoms).

Plan your training sessions around your vaccination

You will be notified well in advance when you can come for your vaccine or booster. You can therefore perfectly plan your training sessions around your vaccination. This way you can still do a heavy training session the day before your shot.

Do you have an important race during that period? Then it may be wiser to postpone your vaccination by a few days.

Can I exercise after receiving my Corona vaccine?

It is recommended to rest for the first 48 hours after your vaccination. The vaccine needs time to work and your body can use all its energy for that. After those 48 hours, also wait another 3 days before doing races or heavy efforts. A gentle training session or strength training is no problem. Provided you have no side effects, of course.
